Éditorial : La nostalgie de Noël dans l’ombre de la violence armée en Haïti

La capitale haïtienne, Port-au-Prince, ne vibre pas au rythme habituel de la fête de Noël et des festivités de fin d’année. En lieu et place de la joie et du contentement, c’est la tristesse et la peur qui se propagent dans le cœur de la population haïtienne. 

 

Au cours des 12 mois de l’année 2024, les crises et la violence armée se succèdent au quotidien. Les gangs armés portent leur décor et changent la routine de cette période de l’année. La détresse et la désolation totale sont palpables sur le visage des citoyens pour la période de Noël.

Paradoxalement, les mots de chagrin et de désespoir prennent le dessus sur les souhaits de Joyeux Noël. L’heure n’est pas à la célébration ni au cri joyeux mais plutôt au cri d’alarme et de détresse. La situation désastreuse du pays s’installe majestueusement dans nos échanges. Désormais, plus de place aux vœux de Noël et de nouvel an.

C’est la réalité criante des crépitements d’armes qui terrorisent la population au milieu des balles perdues qui enlèvent tant de vies. Cette année, le Père Noël ne fera pas son apparition car circuler à Port-au-Prince est très restreint, vu que les gangs armés occupent les territoires qui jadis illustraient la magie de Noël.

Haïti est, aujourd’hui, mise en quarantaine car la circulation est limitée dans la région métropolitaine et les vols sont interdits. C’est quasi-totalement impossible les retrouvailles entres amis-es et familles, n’en parlons pas des rencontres.
