Le Premier Ministre Alix Didier FILS-AIMÉ est rentré au pays, ce jeudi 17 juillet 2024, après une mission officielle de plusieurs jours aux États-Unis. Accueilli à l’aéroport international Toussaint Louverture par plusieurs membres du Gouvernement, il a présenté les grandes lignes de sa démarche diplomatique, axée sur la sécurité, la relance économique et le soutien à la diaspora haïtienne.
Lors d’un point de presse, organisé dans le salon diplomatique de l’aéroport, le Chef du Gouvernement a d’abord mis en avant les efforts déployés pour renforcer la sécurité intérieure, principal défi auquel fait face le pays.
Il dit avoir a mené un plaidoyer de haut niveau auprès de la Maison Blanche, du Congrès américain et d’autres partenaires pour obtenir un appui accru à la Police Nationale d’Haïti (PNH) et à la Mission Multinationale d’Appui à la Sécurité (MMAS).
Monsieur FILS-AIMÉ a insisté sur la nécessité d’augmenter rapidement les effectifs de cette mission internationale et de doter les forces haïtiennes d’équipements adaptés aux réalités du terrain. Il a également salué la disponibilité de pays alliés, notamment le Brésil, l’Argentine et la Colombie, à soutenir cet effort collectif.
Autre volet important abordé lors de la mission, la situation des Haïtiens vivant aux États-Unis. Le Chef du Gouvernement a plaidé pour le prolongement du Statut de Protection Temporaire (TPS), une mesure cruciale pour des milliers de ressortissants haïtiens.
Il a aussi discuté du programme « Humanitarian Parole », demandant un traitement plus équitable et humain pour les bénéficiaires, ainsi qu’une protection renforcée des droits des migrants haïtiens en général.
Sur le plan économique, le locataire de la Primature a mis l’accent sur la relance du secteur textile, en appelant au renouvellement de la loi HOPE/HELP, qui offre des avantages douaniers aux exportations haïtiennes vers les États-Unis. Il a souligné que cette initiative est essentielle pour stimuler l’investissement, soutenir la production locale et créer des emplois durables.
Selon le Premier Ministre, cette mission s’inscrit pleinement dans la stratégie du Gouvernement, qui repose sur trois priorités, en l’occurrence la lutte contre l’insécurité, la relance l’économie et la préparation des élections crédibles et transparentes dans les mois à venir. Il en profite pour annoncer l’arrivée, en Haïti, du Président colombien Gustavo PETRO accompagné du général retraité Pedro Arnulfo Sánchez SUÁREZ, Ministre de la Défense.
En conclusion, Alix Didier FILS-AIMÉ a réaffirmé la détermination de l’État haïtien à continuer de mobiliser ses partenaires internationaux pour sortir le pays de la crise actuelle et ouvrir la voie à un avenir plus stable et prospère dans l’intérêt de la population, qui paie le lourd fardeau de cette crise multidimensionnelle.
